Dubbo, New South Wales to Rooty Hill, New South Wales.
The last lap of the journey, taking in 380 kilometres of scenery on the way home.
The Route:
Leaving Dubbo, I'll take the A32 (Mitchell Highway) via Orange and Bathurst. The A32 then becomes the Great Western Highway to Lithgow and finally the 'Bells Line of Road' to home via Richmond.

Bourke, New South Wales to Dubbo, New South Wales
I have almost driven full circle. I drove through Nyngan as I had stayed there on my outbound journey. The drive was just 370 kilometres.
In 2010 I had stayed in Dubbo for a few nights and, along with a fleeting visit to Singleton, thoroughly enjoyed the stop over, so I thought I would repeat the visit and see what I had missed the first time around.

Winton, Queensland to Charleville, Queensland.
Route:

Still heading South towards home.
Charleville was a chosen stop-over as it was a 690 kilometre drive. The drive takes a series of highways including the Landsborough through Longreach (Birthplace of Qantas), the Mitchell through Augathella and finally the Warrego Highway into Charteville.
Once again, Google had not indicated any significant reasons for stopping longer than an overnight stay. Maybe I would prove them wrong!

Mt. Isa, Queensland to Winton, Queensland
Route:

A new change of direction, more of a southerly direction of about 468 kilometres using a combination of the Barkly Highway (now marked as Highway 83) before taking a right-turn onto the Flinders Highway through to Cloncurry and then the Landsborough Highway (Both marked as Highway A2) into Winton .
This will be another 'overnight stop-off' unless there are 'things to do' that take my fancy. A quick look via Google doesn't seem to hold out much hope other than, of course, the ever changing scenery.
Anyway, prior to embarking on this adventure my planning spreadsheet had allocated one night.
